According to COMAR 10.09.56.16, Respite Care is a one-to-one service that is provided on a short-term basis due to the absence of the person who normally provides care, or the caregiver’s need for relief. Respite care services can take place in the participant’s home or community and can include assistance with activities of daily living provided to participants who are unable to care for themselves.
