Q: What is ABA?
A:According to Cooper, Heron, & Heward (2007), “applied behavior analysis is a science devoted to the understanding and improvement of human behavior.” That’s the scientific definition., but the easiest one to keep in mind is… “ABA is structured teaching.”

 

Q: What assessment(s) do you use? 

A:We utilize The Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills – Revised (Partington, 2006) and the Verbal Behavior Milestone Assessment and Placement Program (Sundberg, 2008) to assess the skill levels of our clients. However, we also use state curriculum standards, life skills assessments, experience, and family input to determine what skills to teach.

Q: What services do you offer?
A:We offer Family Training/Consultation, Respite, and Individual Support Services (also called 1:1 services or therapy). For more information about these services, please visit our Services page on this site or contact us directly.
Q: Does BDS accept insurance?
A: Accept for with the Maryland Waiver, BDS bills the client/client’s family directly. You may seek reimbursement from your insurance company, if available.

 

Q: Does BDS have therapists available to work with my child?
A: BDS works with and trains Behavior Support Staff (BSS) to work with your child in the home and community setting. We currently have several BSS team members available. However, if we do not have a BSS in your area and you would like to begin services with us, we will try to locate one for you. If you are interested in speaking with someone about this, please contact us.
